Relaxation and Home SpasYou love candles, the smell of lavender, and aromatherapy products.  You also enjoy visiting spas, but just don't have the time to carve out to pamper yourself how you'd like.  Well, now you don't have to!  You can create an ultimate spa environment in your home with a few of your favorite spa products and a little imagination.

Gathering the Products

Before you can indulge yourself, there are few things that you should have on hand in order to create a relaxing home spa.  First, gather up some lotions and oils that you have enjoyed when you have visited a spa.  Don't forget the aromatherapy candles and bath products.  Below is a more specific list of products and what they're intended use.

  • Essential oils: These oils are made from flower petals and are a must-have for your skin. They help to restore relaxation and home spasvitality in the tissues of your skin, and regulate the activity within the capillaries, rejuvenating the skin by promoting regeneration of new, healthy cells. The oil should be applied with a cloth or diluted in water or unscented oil, never directly onto the face or skin.

Plus there are many different types of oils that you can get, whether you need to energize yourself, or just unwind from your hectic day-there are plenty of scents to choose from.

Drop a few drops of the essential oil into your bath water, along with some aromatherapy bath products, and enjoy some relaxation from a hard day's work.  There are also essential oil diffusers that are great to have in your bedroom or bathroom, for a constant aromatherapy infusion.

  • Body Scrubs: Investing in a good body scrub will help to cleanse your skin more effectively. First, you should gently brush your skin prior to stepping into the shower or bath. This helps to reduce excess water and toxins, stimulating circulation. Don't scrub hard or you will promote inflammation, which is what you're trying to reduce.

The different types of scrubs you can purchase include salt or sugar scrubs.  These are perfect for those problems areas that have dry or rough skin, such as in the upper arms, elbows, heels and thigh areas.  After you complete an exfoliation, apply an anti-oxidant body lotion for toning and firming.  However, do not apply this lotion to the face-only to the body.

  • Facials: You love facials and taking care of your face is very important. Since the skin on your face is thinner and more delicate, use products that are gentle yet effective. Start off with a sea sponge and a few drops of an anti-oxidant. This will help reduce the wrinkles and sagging of skin. Ensure to rinse thoroughly with warm water, not hot.

A very inexpensive spa treatment for your face is to gently rub an ice cube that has been placed inside of a plastic bag, for several minutes.  This will tone and plump up your skin.

  • Alpha Lipoic Acid: This is by far one of the best kept secrets to improving the signs of aging skin and is an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. The results can be seen anywhere from minutes to days. Some of the benefits that you'll witness are a decrease in redness and puffiness under the eyes, along with more skin clarity and color.

Some of the other long-term results from this treatment include decreased wrinkle depth, lines and pore size.  Other results are fading of age spots and increased muscle tone and firmness.
