water treatments at spasWater treatments and thermal experiences are becoming the rage at spas as people want something new and different. There are a variety of ways that you can experience massage in the water that will create a more relaxing time.

Watsu Massage is one such treatment. This is not for the person who has a water phobia or is afraid of intimacy because it is a pretty intense experience. Watsu combines water with shiatsu massage, muscle stretching and dance. You might want to think of this as a kind of water aerobics with a massage to relax the muscles and release pain.

If you are in England on holiday or for business you might want to try a Turkish Bath for one of your hydro treatments, which will be a very unique and relaxing experience. When we think of a bath, we might think of warm water where we get a scrub.. In a Turkish bath you get a hot steamy bath that is combined with massage and cold sponge treatments. Some may also involve plunges into cold water to invigorate your pores. Turkish baths may leave you feeling a little bit weak because you have just cleaned your body of toxins, relaxed your muscles and unblocked your pores.

Finnish Saunas are another way that many people find soothing. This is the traditional sauna that you find either at home, in a gym or at a spa. Usually the sauna has a system of very hot rocks and water is thrown over them to make the steam. These are very warm and soothing and if you add a little eucalyptus oil you can clear your sinuses while opening your pores.

When you are very tired and want a surreal experience you may want to try Floating. This is one of the water treatments that are done in a flotation tank. Imagine immersing your body in a Epsom salt solution where you float just like in a swimming pool or the ocean. The difference is that your body is supported and there is no sound. Your muscles begin to relax and you and you experience sensory relaxation. After 40 minutes you are refreshed.

Another great water treatment, when you are looking for a quick bit of energy, is a Deluge Shower. These are done through a showerhead that floods water onto your body as though you were standing in the rain. You can find these shower heads for home too. Another variation of this is the Vichy Shower which may feel something like a car wash for your body. It is a system of five to seven showerheads that pour water over you as you lay on a table. Often this will be part of one of the salt wraps or other processes.

Spa water treatments are a great way to totally relax your entire body, and they are gaining in popularity. If you found something here that is interesting try it out and let us know what you thought of the experience.
